Twirlin g Teams The majorettes a.nd flagtwirlers play an important part in adding flare and sparkle to the marching band. Head Majorette Karla perhaps plays the most important role because she leads the ba.nd in parades and directs the playing and the corner- turning. Both groups also utilize their talents to present dance routines and half-time shows, sometimes substituting canes and hats for flags or adding black lights and colored lights on batons for a special ef- feet. The girls are chosen through try-outs in the spring by Mr. Eppley and are judged on style, rhythm, and their ability to learn the routines.
