The real value of a liberal arts education lies in the capacity to make fine distinctions. These words heard by an impressionable young sophomore in Miss Mulvey's English History class, represent the philosophy of this fine professor concern- ing the education of her students. Never content with second best, Helen Mulvey inspires her students to go beyond mediocrity, and to strive for academic ex- cellence. For the past thirty-six years, Miss Mulvey has been an important member of the Connecticut College community and has given her students a clearer understanding of their world, of its history, and of themselves. Miss Mulvey's record of service and dedication is an ex- ample of the heights which a college pro- fessor can attain. It is with pride, admira- tion, respect, and a deep sense of gratitude that we dedicate Koin 1983 to Professor Helen F. Mulvey. -

NTS 183 - Student Life The term says it all: student life. Here at Connecticut College many different life styles coexist. A walk in the Arboretum, lunch with a professor, tailgating at a soccer game, dance concerts, art exhibits, movies, plays, trips to Norm's or Ocean's, laying out a yearbook - all teach life's lessons, and a few are preserved here. The liberal arts education depends on a constant and dedicated faculty and staff in all its departments. Their support, friendship, and guidance are essential to all our progress. The quality of their contributions is mirrored in the quality of academics overall. 215 - Closing As another yearbook closes, we wish to salute once again our liberal arts education and thank all the people that make it possible. Our dosing includes a few final thoughts on this microcosm in which we have lived the past four years. We will continue to sup- port this institution so that others may also enjoy the offerings of a liberal arts education.
