Seniors The class of 1983, like the previous sixty-four classes, is comprised of students who both individually and col- lectively have made their mark on all aspects of campus life. Their individuality is expressed in this section, where each photo is a personal statement. This is their year in the limelight culminating May 29th at Commencement. We applaud the seniors and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. : rl 17

16 Definition by Demonstration Liberal Arts: Academic disciplines, such as languages, history, philosophy, and abstract science, presumed to develop general intellectual ability and judgement and provide information of general cultural concern. The above is a dic- tionary definition of Liberal Arts. At Con- necticut College this definition underlies everything we do. Whether it is student activities, parties, sports, or academics, the definition is still the skeleton of our lives here. We take responsibility for what we create from that outline, the ways in which we personally animate our own educations.

18 A Tribute to Marg. Margaret Watson, our Dean of Stu- dent Affairs, known affectionately as Marg , affects every student at the col- lege in a direct or indirect way during each of their four years. She tames the monsterously complex housing lottery and eases roommate problems throughout both semesters. She is the energetic force behind the Housefellow program, informing them and helping to untangle the little problems that upset the harmony of dorm life. And teaming up with Karl Beeler and S.G.A., Marg sees to it that the social life on the campus is a healthy and enjoyable one. Through her dedication and a bit of magic, Marg suc- cessfully accomplishes what would or- dinarily keep a small staff busy on a full time basis. We appreciate the exceptional job she does, but this is only a part of why Marg is such a popular member of the campus community. It is her friendliness, concern, and her dedication to Connecticut Col- lege which has won the hearts of so many students over the years. Because of her warm personality, love, friendship and support, the Class of 1983 dedicates its Senior Section to Marg Wat- son, and thanks her for her role in making four years of college such a great experience.
