DEDICATION WAYNE RICHARD SWANSON In every community, certain members prove themselves exemplary by the example they set for others. The individual cited here is one such case. The epitome of what a good professor should be, Mr. Swanson possesses the in- creasingly rare ability to simplify subjects into crisp, concise terms, without losing intellectual depth. He has authored several volumes on government, has organized and runs the Taft Seminar for high school teachers, and among other civic projects, serves on the Commission for Connecticut's Future. As former Dean of Faculty and continuous participant in campus politics, he has assumed a reconcilerfarbitrator role, earning much respect for his qualities of fairness, com- posure, and sound judgement. Aficionado of game shows and the Red Sox, Mr. Swanson is an affable, wry man with a penchant for exciting neckties and dry humour; he can frequently be seen off-hours taking in a basketball game or jogging his lean frame around campus. It is hoped by this dedication to signal our gratitude. We, the Class of 1981, salute Wayne Richard Swanson, and in so doing, commemorate not only his service to this college, but that of others like him. : Mark Hall
