Four short years ago, when, for the first time, we entered these halls, now so hallowed by association, in a timid expect- ancy of the great experiences that College v as treasuring for us, we met with the cheeriest of welcomes from one to whom we afterwards turned for sure guidance. As we have gone forth in the holiday spirit to each successive vacation, he has been the last to wish us farewell, and the first to greet us on our return with equal heartiness and personal interest in all. As we have encountered difficulties in our academic path, he has been foremost in adjusting them, in giving us the needed word of encouragement or friendly admonition.
