The new additions and renovations to Conneaut High School have provided us with a facility that ranks with the best schools in Northeastern Ohio. But the facility is just brick, mortar, and steel, it is the people that inhabit the facility and the values they support that are important. I am pleased how the faculty, staff, student body, and parents have participated in a cooperative effort to emphasize PRIDE, COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINE, and RESPECT at our school. It is my belief that these qualities will have a significant impact on us now and for many years to come. As you reflect on your years at Conneaut High School it is my hope that we have provided you with the inspiration to be the very best that you can be. I have every confidence that you will succeed. Sincerely, Mr. John Reno 8 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS L. TO R. Marc is 1 in Ohio and ranked 35th nationally. Marc’s immediate goal is to win the Junior National Championships. Later, he wants to participate in the Olympic Games. Biathlon challenges an athlete to master two opposing disciplines — the hard driving efforts of cross-country skiing and the demands of self-control rifle marksmanship. 58 Biathlon JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT Noelle Fields displays her J. A. products. Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization supported by local businesses who donate money, time, and personnel to give J. A. companies a helping hand. High school students are provided with practical business experience while learning how an actual business runs. Conneaut High School was represented by six students who met with J. A. once a week throughout the 19-week program. They were: Staci Burdue, Melissa Dalrymple, Noelle Fields, Michelle Moore, Eric Ross, and Colleen Tinney. I can't really answer that question because I haven't seen the whole USA to be able to answer it. But the parts of the USA I’ve been I like. One thing I can say is if someone wants to go to USA as an AFS-Student she he should go to Conneaut. There is not much to do here but if someone could get as wonderful host family and great friends as I have he she couldn’t be luckier. I wili always remember the things I did with my host family and how they loved me as I was their own child. I will never forget my great host sister; how we used to sit in each other’s room till late in the night and talk about anything and everything; how we used to do things together; how we used to argue about stupid little things; like real sisters. The things I did with my friends will always stay in my mind as the best memories: My first and last (?) time at Chi Chi’s; all the football games; T. P birthday party; the trip to O.U.; rollerskating and Pizazz and Arby’s and cruisin’ around; model UN. I will never forget the people who made my year better here in Conneaut: My host family, my little sister , my teddy-bear , my Prom date” my Finnish friends ; my lunch friends , my friend in the bus . Only thing I can say; I love you all! I really had fun. I can say none of days were boring. Every day had something new and exciting to give to me. I love Mexican food, New York City and Colorado. I will have a lot to tell to my family and friends back in Finland. And everything what I say will be positive. The people were the thing that made my year to be what it was. If somebody asks me: How was your year in the United States? I will have one word to describe it — Fantastic”. I love you all and I’ll miss you! 60 American Field Service ROSEMARIE SCHMIDT Rosemarie, of Chile, fit into community and school life right away. Three games, Madison, St. John, and Jefferson were close, but tough losses. If they would have gone our way and not the opponents, the season might have been a great one. Even though the season was a disappointment to many, it had its bright spots too. Three Spartans were named Spartan of The Week; Tim McCloskey, Mike Carraher, and Scott Nickel. Tim McCloskey also received 2nd team NEC and County Offense, and Team MVP, Carraher took 1st team NEC and County Defensive back. Nickel received 2nd team County, 1st team NEC for Defensive Tackle. Even though it is a sport where teammates cannot assist one another, the Spartans have come as close to one as is possible. This year's Spartan running team consisted of: Scott Smith. Chad Brooks, Scott Ogren, John Burke, Ray Fallon, Marc Smothers, and Frances Black. The team won five out of nine meets and were at the regional tournament in Elyria scoring in eleventh place. The space was almost filled by a new concession stand but through a petition signed by the students the Crew emerged on top. With careful guidance of do’s and don’ts, our leaders led us through a good season. The traditions held this year were Toga night, Hat Tie night, and even an appearance from the Gorilla and his two sidekicks: Alf and the Chicken. With help from Jim Chadwick. Matt Bunnell, and Rob Coxon bending the rules to get them in. We should all remember that the NO Noise makers on the stage rule was never broken. Mick Showalter kept the stage full of enthusiasm with even a quick run around the stage, only falling once. This year was more for Matt Bunnell (or Bunel?) than just chicken suits. Bunel fought a chance to play on the Harvey team where he did a woeful job. The Crew made the paper on a few occasions this year too. First for their spirit and secondly criticized by P.V. fans for our spirit, who must not be forgotten for their caped enthusiast. But let us not also forget Tim Tan's extortion to design our shirts for two in return. Just kidding. Tim. The year came to a close with a happy and victorious crew mobbing the team after the last home game. Rob says, Kool-Aid is number one.” (Top) What's Sheri looking at on Toga Night?
