Congratulations for the fantastic job, Coach. One of the new happenings in the year of 73 was C.H.S.’s own Chess Team. The team starting only with a few members doubled its membership by the end of the year. Captain of the team Dave Punkar had much backing up and help from “Business Manager” Mr. Harold Ladner. Miss Ann Koman.” Tears of joy flooded to her eyes as she came forward to receive her congratulations. The Queen and her court reigned over the annual Homecoming Dance. The girls’ softball team has been undefeated for its primary two years. The girls have taken two NEC titles and remain 16-0 till next season, when they hope to carry on their winning tradition. The Spartanettes, who are coached by Mrs. Elsie Kiser and Mrs. James Pataky, consist of five seniors, 11 juniors, and 16 sophomores. For two years the NEC battle has been fought between Conneaut and Edgewood. The Spartanettes won both of these championship games by one run in the final inning. Most of the girls claim they have learned sportsmanship through the program and hope it will continue for years to come. 128 Congratulations Spartanettes Golf Jim Laine Kevin Conway Row 1: Bill Taylor, Tom Misch, Ken Powell, Roger Burdick, and Jim Brown, Tom Lengyel, John Mason, Kevin Conway, and Jim Laine.
