1965 TATTLER CONNEA UT HIGH SCHOOL CONNEAUT, OHIO The 1965 Tattler Queen, Kay Ann Mundi, was crowned on March 26 by Bob Naylor, Tattler representative. The Queen's attendants were Connie DeMarco, Cindy Campbell, and Janet Palagyi. 5 IN MEMORIAM MR. JAMES WOLFE Mr. Wolfe, a former Conneaut High principal, is greatly missed not only by his family, but by the thousands of students who passed through his classes. Through Mr. Wolfe's dedication to the school, much was accomplished. For many years to come the loss of this fine man will be felt throughout the entire school system. We are grateful for the privilege of having known Mr. James Wolfe and having him serve as our principal. IN MEMORIAM MR. PAUL SHEEHAN I Mr. Paul Sheehan, who served on the Conneaut High faculty for sixteen years, had many qualities which made him an excellent teacher. Perhaps his most outstanding attribute, as a teacher and as a person, was his diligence in setting a good example to follow through a constant pursuit of perfection in the tasks he undertook. Therefore, in honoring his memory, we also wish to pay tribute to all our teachers who devote time and talents to educating us. OUR TEAR Mr. Klepek lays down the law. Students hurriedly munch their lunch 8 Prospective leaders vie for office. 9 Pep Club sits still for a minute. Conneaut Spartan appears at assembly. 10 Juniors order their class rings. The experiences I have had, the friends I have found, and the happiness I have felt would cover several years, and although I soon shall be far away, Conneaut and the people I met will always stay close to me . . . 61 Connie and Ingrid SENIOR MOTHERS’ TEA The Annual Senior Mothers' Tea was held May 19, 1965, in the High School Gymnasium. Pat DiPlacido served as Master of Ceremonies. Dave Blood gave the welcome to the mothers. Mrs. Robert Manniko gave the response on behalf of the mothers. She wished to each senior the gift of serendipity. The Girls' Ensemble and Roxanna Simmons offered several musical selections. 62 CLASS TRIP The senior class left the high school gymnasium, June 2, 1965, to spend the day at Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio. Although it rained most of the day, the undaunted seniors enjoyed the amusements and companionship. In the evening, a dinner and dance was held in the Kove. At the end of a perfect day, the seniors returned home a weary, but very happy group. 63 SENIOR Mary Wassie, Patty Haas, and Doug Foster receive the Zeller Memorial Award from Mrs. Gurto. Dave Monroe receives the National Defense Citizenship Award. Dave Keskinen accepts the Sabin Award from Dr. Brown behalf of himself and Dave Long and Doug Foster. 64 on AWARDS Marcia McCree and Doug Foster: National Merrit Awards. Although cur record was not an impressive one, Conneaut fans did get to see an exciting team. Many games were lost by just one or two runs. Coach Humphrey also played many of his underclassmen in hopes of building a better team. One of the highlights of the year was Jim Colangelo's election to the East All-Stars. Congratulations to Jim and the rest of the Conneaut squad in their first season. 113 Scott Hoag, Bill Phipps, Mike Colby, Captain Phil Cress, Doug Bly, Rick Chase, Mr. Estock. The Spartans finished third in the league, but by sinking a few long putts in certain matches, they could have finished much higher. The season was highlighted by a school record of 151 strokes. Phil Cress also had an individual record of 35 strokes for nine holes.
