The Pep Band and Pep Club carry on the Trojan Spirit. Give us a 'C' IN MEMORIAM DR. GLENN ZELLER 1903-1963 The death of Dr. Glenn Zeller is more than a personal loss to Conneaut. The city also lost a fine school administrator. As superintendent of the Conneaut School System, Dr. Zeller was one of those quiet men who accomplished much without making a fuss about it. Without fanfare, he quietly went ahead and did the job. He would more than do just a job. He was one of those rare men who put his whole effort into whatever he was doing. During his short seven years in Conneaut, he was the prime force in building the school system and its staff into their present high standards. Conneaut was indeed fortunate in attracting this school administrator to run its schools. They spent the day riding rides, roller skating, swimming, and playing miniature golf, After a buffet supper, the class continued on to Niagara Falls where they spent the remainder of the day. 46 Senior Awards Left to Right: Karl Rowbowtham and Sue Burke are about to accept a trophy for the band; Cathy Landers receives a certificate for working in the office; Alice Thayer receives a typing award; Ann Lafferty, Gary Van Slyke and Cindy Laine pose with Dr. Zeller Scholastic Awards; Wanda Sipes, Connie McElhaney, Janice Hass-ler and Janice Warren receive recognition for helping in the Home Ec. Department. 47 Baccalaureate Seniors await Commencement with mixed emotions. Rehersals, rehersals . . . Reverend Reinhart Schalin admonished, Don't let the world squeeze you into its own tiny mold as he warned against conformity in his Baccalaureate sermon, On Hearing a Different Drummer. Strive to keep from falling into the 'typical' category of whatever you choose to be. 48 And more rehersals! Commencement In her talk on The Development of Human Resources, Ann Lafferty traced the mass of inventions and discoveries which had taken place since the class of '64 was born. We need to equip ourselves for lifelong learning. We must know what we want so that we can go after it. Gary Van Slyke, in his address on Truth, reminded Seniors that truth is based on facts--you cannot hide from it. Do not accept truth blindly. Search to know that it is the truth. Complacency is the enemy of truth. Philip Lovejoy, educator and traveler, delivered the Commencement address entitled Make Way for Tomorrow. Never sell yourselves short, you are not a failure. The challenge of tomorrow can be met. Tomorrow is yours, he continued. What are you going to do about it? It will not be without problems and obstacles. In concluding, Mr. Lovejoy encouraged, You can become, if you are willing to overcome the obstacles. Let the Word Go Forth was the title of Cindy Laine's address. Move boldly down unchartered paths. Take heed against complacency and lethargy. Decisions will determine the course of generations to come. t Baccalaureate Service HIGH SCI! Taking part in the fine arts program, one takes advantage of his talents and puts them to use. Through our widespread social life, teenagers learn how to get along with others, how to share ideas, and finally, the most important aspect, how to get the most fun out of his high school years.
