The 1935 Football Season Although Conncaut failed to continue its habit of winning the Lake Shore League Football Championship, they did, nevertheless, display a superior brand of football. In league competition the team lost but one game and tied one; the remaining games were won by substantial margins. In non-league competition the boys defeated three much larger and stronger schools. “Dutch” and “Watty” need have no regrets over the 1935 season. Following is a summary of the games played and their respective scores: FOOTBALL SUMMARY Academy 7 Conneaut 10 Erie Tech 0 Conneaut 2i Ashtabula 0 Conneaut 29 Painesville 6 Conneaut 0 Fairport 0 Conneaut 0 Harbor 13 ............ At times they were unbeatable, while at other times—oh, well, the scores tell the story. The fact that the team went to the finals in the district tournament proves, however, that the boys could play ball on occasions. Letters were awarded to the following players: Steve Toth, Albert King, Stanley Putnicki, Toivo Maenpaa, Robert Forster, Maurice Bit-tier, Jack Richardson, Martin Lcppala, and Gaylord Sabo, manager.
