T 1964-7965 Within the pages of this book are the hopes, dreams, and ideals of the Class of 1965. We have tried to give you an insight into the real character of the school and people who make up this yearbook. Getting this far has not been a one-man job but has been achieved with the help of our principals, teachers, and classmates. We could not have made it without them, and we have appreciated their help more than words can express. As we go into a competitive world, we shall realize this fact more and more. In every position imaginable, you must come in contact with people, and there is not a better place than school to learn how to get along with people. Today, more than ever, business demands a high school education in future employees, but also a college education. That is why it is so neces- sary for us to seek higher education and thereby be better equipped to enter the business world. dfnnally High chaff! To the future graduates of Connally High School, we leave this thought, Education is your key to the future. It was with this thought in mind that we prepared this yearbook. Now we present to you the '65 CADETg use it as your inspiration and key to the future. TI-FE ANNUAL STAFF chaff! Halstead CORONET STAFF The Coronet Staff is one of the busiest organizations in the school. The Staff has one class period a day to work on the paper. During this time they collect information and turn it into stories. The stories are then put on sten- cils and run off. Many times the one class a day is not enough and members of the staff have to come to the school on Saturdays and early in the morn- ings to get the paper ready to sell. The members also collect Junior High news and add this to the High School Paper that is sold in the Junior High. Student rfuucil Standing: S. Ellsworth, L. Schleicher, S. McKnight, B. Beaird, S. Since that time it has been affiliated with the State and National Organization. Membership is open to any student who has taken or is taking a homemaking course in junior or senior high school. ln 1960, the organization was divided into two chapters. The junior chapter is made up of freshman students while the senior chapter includes students in all other grades in high school. The eight purposes of the organization may be summed up in this statement: To promote better per- sonal, family and community life for all. The Connally Chapter in cooperation with the FFA Chapter operates the concession stand at all home football games, takes Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to needy families, makes an Easter egg tree which is taken to a rest home, and participates in other activities. 37. 944. Club activities this year included discussion, study, a welcoming party for new members, and a swimming party. The Spanish Club develops the understanding of Spanish through its connection with the Spanish classes and by discussions in Spanish. During club meetings the basic Spanish cus- toms are explained, and the good-neighbor polic-y is demonstrated by extending honorary membership to visiting exchange students.
