S. The ship rests on keelblocks as the drydock is nearly com- pletely pumped. Heavy timbers brace the side of the ship to keep her in place. IN DR YDOCK CONFLICT enter the huge Drydock Number 8 at Sasebo, Japan. Astern, t' .e caisson is floated into place and sunk in preparation for pumping out the drydock. Stages are erected against the side of CONFLICT before replacement of damaged and aged planking in her sides and cleaning of her bottom begins.
