Boys' Track Team Experiences Best Record In History Of C. V1 The 1971 track team under the skilled guidance of coach Crawford Kauffman and assist- ant coach Leroy Hoffman brought C.V. its finest season ever, with a 9-4 record and two new school records. ' Through determination and great stamina, C.V. handed league champion Solanco its only loss of the season with a score of 80-70. Other decisive victories were won against Manheim Township and Elizabethtown with scores of 90-60. In the Shippensburg relays Dan Good placed third in the mile, and Don Byler was fifth in thc 2-mile. g These runners also set new school records: Dan Good, in the mile, with a time of 4:4O.2 and Don Byler, who broke his own record in the 2-mile, with a time of 10:09. Coach Kauffman stated that next year the team will be weak, but thc undetclassmen will form a competitive team and will show up at every meet. bf! - jeff johnson follows through after releasing the discus.
