Football: They Came. . . The C.V. Bucksltins ended their season with an impressive record of nine wins and one loss. The team started the season with a depressing loss to the Blue Streaks of Manheim Township. The loss didn't get the team down. howeverg in fact. it gave them more incen- tive to win. The next game was a struggle, but the Bucks gained a 15-0 victory over Donegal. The next three games showed the powerful offense and defense the Bucks had by defeating Cocalico 5528, Hempfield 23-O, and Manheim Central 19-6. At our Home- coming game the Bucks took full command of their 374: win over the Spartans. The Bucks then traveled to Solanco for their tuming point in the season with a demanding 28-12 victory over the Mules. The remaining three games were of the utmost importance to the team. Wlarwick, picked by everyone to defeat the Bucks, was literally whipped by the C.V. offense and de- fense. by an outstanding score of 5311. The following game against Columbia was played under the theme of Alpha and Omega or rather the beginning and the end. And it was the end for Columbia. C.V. reduced the Tide to a trickle by defeating them 21-I4. The final game against Ephrata did not threaten the Bucks' eight game winning streak and C.V. walked away with its ninth straight win by a score of 59-8. The fantastic season was not due to any one single star player. but rather to the team's feeling of togetherncss and manirity. The C.V. coaching staff guided our offense and de- fense to the second best in the county. This year jeff johnson was nominated to the Big 33 and the All-State Team. jack Ro- land was picked as the most outstanding back in the league and received the Bill Frantz Award for his efforts. Senior jack Roland was also C.V. place kiclter this year and booted 28 extra points. Next year the team enters a new league which is improved and also provides a better brand of football. The team will be experienced, but they will have to stan from scratch to build up their attitude and confidence to win. s....-a ' 'I-In Above nglzl - The kick-off team begins to charge down the field Below - Coach Grimm inspires the team before an important game
