PEP CLUB HORTICULTURE CLUB The Pep Club at Conestoga paints all signs for the sports teams and activities and hangs them up around the school. They sell candy, schedules, shakers, and buttons at football games. At basketball games and wrestling matches, they sell tickets and candy. Mr. Hildenbrand is the faculty advisor for this club. In addition to being the source of plant material for the biology department, the greenhouse provides refuge for many plants that staff members bring indoors for the winter, and for those houseplants thot need some very definite attention. The greenhouse staff is composed of stu- dents that prefer to spend their study periods in dealing with sick plants, new cutting, or tending the well-established varieties with the appropriate fertilizers and soil types. In the spring the staff en- joys a day at the nationally-acclaimed Philadelphia Flower Show, and ends the year by growing numerous garden vege- tables from seed to supply interested faculty and other staff members. This club start- ed last year on an informal basis with a group of high school stu- dents with an interest in teaching safety habits to younger children. It has attained official club status this year with about twenty members. Mr. Hoch, club advisor, has helped the students set up a program with about ten area nur- sery schools.
