i , . Y r , 59- FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS Sitting: Miss Ragerf Miss Williams Miss Lesosky. Standing: Miss Good, Miss Cruick shank, Miss Bantlyp Miss Shaffer. FHESHMAN CLASS HISTIJHY With feelings of anxiety we entered the school on September 4, 1962. On arrival we were assigned to our rooms and were introduced to our roommates. After getting settled we met the members of the faculty and were given some idea of what would be expected of us as student nurses. Each of us was issued a very formidable stack of books. We settled down to dormitory life and classes. Our courses at the hospital stressed the basic principles of nursing. We were afforded the opportunity of applying these principles in the care of patients in the hos- pital. We had courses in microbiology and anatomy-physiology at the Johnstown College, University of Pitts- burgh. The students of the college had a tea in our honor in September. The day our uniforms arrived we were like children celebrating Christmas. No one felt prouder than we the first time we wore our uniforms. At last we would be recognized as freshman students. Later we were introduced to our choral director, Mr. Robert Turonsky. With his guidance we were able to blend our voices into a harmonious choral group. For our debut we sang at the Student- Parent- Faculty Reception. This was the night that-we received our Florence Nightingale lamps. We also sang at a United Fund luncheon meeting. Although we have been here only a short time, we feel a real part of the school. What lies in store for us is uncertain, but we are hoping for a bright and happy future. 6
