www.. . li , . A 4 2, 7. 9 .. W' 0- JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS Left to Right: Miss Bokonyi, Miss Creep Miss Gaultp Miss Bosnicp Miss Koot. JU IUH EL!-XSS HISTIJHY The Junior Class made its appearance at CVMH on September 5, l96l. We didn't realize what was in store for us, but we were prepared to work hard to reach our goal. Immediately we began classes at the hospital and at the Johnstown College, University of Pittsburgh. Looking back over our first year we recall lengthy class meetings, weekly chorus practice, and long walks to the college--things which are now iust fond memories. Our first year went fast, and after a restful vacation we began our second year. Our class was divided into groups for Pediatric Nursing, Obstetric Nursing and the Psychiatric Nursing affiliation. ln Obstetric Nursing we studied about the miracle of birth and learned to care for the mother and her newborn. In Pediatric Nursing we learned to care for youngsters of various ages, thus gaining insight into their development and their nursing care needs. During the three months we spent at Torrance State Hospital, we were taught to care for the mentally ill patient and acquired some insight into the complexities of the mind. By becoming familiar with the basic principles of psychology, we are now more capable of relating with our everyday contacts. In December of 1962 we honored our Senior Class with a Junior-Senior dinner-dance. Much effort was put forth in the preparation for the occasion, and we were rewarded with an enioyable evening. By studying and by striving to be good nurses, we are anticipating a succesful future in our chosen field. 20
