We began our nursing career on September 2, 1952 and were initiated at an intermediate-spom sored party on September 3. Our class officers were elected in October with Mrs. Ponas being chosen advisor. The main event of our first year was the arrival of seventeen students from Miner's Hos- pital, Spangler, Pennsylvania. On March 19, 1953, we were capped at the Vine Street First Evangel- ical United Brethren Church. Our first group of students left for affiliation with Torrance and Butler Hospitals in December of that year. And now that we are about to be seniors, we shall endeavor to make our coming year as profitable as the past two have been. WM-K.. A very .nervous group of girls arrived at the nurses' home on September 8, 1953, ready to start our new career. That evening we had a party in the lounge which included games, re- freshments and an initiation. For the next few months, we were busy with classes at Pitt and at our home school. We also selected Miss Cerutti as our advisor. Christmas arrived . . . and another party. We enjoyed singing carols on all the areas throughout the hospital. ln January, classes ended at Pitt and our first report cards were sent home. Our spring activities included a skating party, square dance and the May dance. May the next two years prove to be as ex- citing as the first, with many new experiences before us.
