jim land nf nod HOSPITAL LIBRARY Once upon a time . . . that was a method of treatment for the sleep- less in the days when the Egyptian, Greek and Roman temples housed the sick. This story telling of myths and legends may be considered a harbinger of bibliotherapy, supplied by the patients' library today. Our hospital library has three components: the medical library, the nurses' library, and the patients' library. In these departmental libraries, reading material is provided for the hospital staff, the nurses and the patients. The patients' library offers cheer and hope to all those who utilize its services. The considerable selection of books are ot recreational and thera- peutic values to the convalescent, the chronic and the depressed patient. This is one of the treatments which allow the patient to be borne in his imagination to more pleasant and cheerful circumstances. He can ride on the ocean and fly high in the air and harness the moon to his bidding. This is one of the treatments Which actually opens a new and brighter future for the patient. This is true bibliotherapy! Grey Ladies at work 1 2 5 1

With the aid of stenographers and secretaries, the medical staff of our hospital is producing valuable records. These medical records placed in the custody of our medical records department, serve the patient in his present or future illness, serve our hospital and its medical staff, and hold a special place in the field of medical research.
