BUSINESS DEPARTMENT Our business department does not directly contact the patient in rendering professional service, but it performs a combination of Vital activities which indirectly influence the care of the sick. Bookkeepers, cashiers, secretaries, stenographers, clerks, and switchboard operators all co- operate in performance oi many business transactions which concern the hospital as a Whole. Here We see our office Workers preparing payrolls, receiving cash, handling correspondence, compiling statistical reports, opening mail, taking notes from dictation, maintaining files, typing reports, indexing records, running errands, making appointments and answering the phones. Here we see mechanization for speed, efficiency and economy! Mr. Karl Fritz, Chief Engineer MECHANICAL AND MAIIIITENANCE DEPARTMENTS Jim, , ,pfunfwl 'nwzlwuu SERVICE DEPARTMENTS Our mechanical, maintenance, housekeeping and laundry departments are essential to the comfort and satety ot the patient. These service depart- ments provide heat, light, power, and refrigeration: they maintain the physi- cal plant, and they control the linen supply. In the different divisions can be seen the Workers repairing piping systems, feeding the tlatwork machine, oiling motors, testing joints, decorat- ing Walls, polishing tloors and cleaning elevators. Under immediate supervision the employees become well skilled at performing their job. These skilled Workers can be seen hurrying about the buildings and grounds aiming earnestly to complete their specific duties tor they know the important role they play.
