(L TyiMAcupL to thsL Ssmiifibu Greetings: This publication is truly an elevator. We have moved along a road with small beginnings to one that has been considerably broadened. Let us deal briefly in retrospect in relation to our publi- cation. In doing so we go back to the year 1919 in October at a high school assembly. Our student body was told at that time of a decision of great importance to the group. The decision to permit a high school publication. The idea then was literary. There was a need for an outlet to a student ' s literary skill and this was the opportunity hoped for. The policy was to publish the best student literary collection four times during the school year. Naturally, with time comes change so after four years of published literary talent it was agreed that a large, well planned, pictured annual would be more appropriate. The evo- lution of our publication has been one from literary to pictures or a complete re ersal from its beginning and it has remained so to this date. Now, the name Elevator needs explanation. Two names were suggested for this publication— ELEN ' ATOR and IRON HORSE. The thought in mind was that since the start was at the bot- tom to something much better the name ELEVATOR or a moving up would be more suitable than IRON HORSE. It is my hope that in years to come as you leaf through this book, your ELE- VATOR, that the history portrayed to you in those pages will bring back to you fond memories of days well spent in your alma mater. May you be proud of them and ma we be proud of you. Best wishes. James Thomas Meckle ' Supervising Principal
