BASKETBALL With only three practices, the Conde Basketball squad opened their season by playing a practice game with Northville, Because of the loss of five letter men from the previous year and the inexperience of the new team, the Spartans went down in defeat, After plrying three con- ference games with Turton, Stratford, and Bath, t hey journeyed to Northville, during Christmas vacation, to participate in a Tournament, where they lost the consolation game to Athol, From then on Conde played seven conference games and three outside games, maxing a totfl of sixteen games during the season, . The District Tournament was held in Redfield on February 25, 26, and 27, Conde played three games, being defeated in the first game by Faulkton. Conde was next paired Wvith Ashton, who they defeated and which permitted them to play Northville, As a reward for their service in participating in each game, nine men received Basketball letters, They are: B, Hearnen, E, Brown, R, Hildebrant, L, Tennis, E, Grandpre, F, Sanders, D, Flatten, B, Collins, and J, Hearnen, INTERCLASS TOURNAMENT On February lS, at the Ford Garage, the interclass tournament was held, The first game was played by the Freshmen and Juniors, The Juniors, having more experience and more fighting power, upset the Freshies, 5 to 35, In the second game of the evening,f the Seniors drew the Sophomores, in which the Sophomores lost by a score of ll to 18. T A . On the 24th of February, the two final games of the tournament were played, The Freshmen played the Sophomores, but because of the absence of several Sophomores and the initiative of the Freshmen, the Sophomores went down in defeat. In the championship game, the Seniors defeated the Juniors in a thrilling thirty-two minutes, by a score of 22 to l2. 62
