MUSIC The various musical organizations of Conde High School again attended the annual State Music Contest held in Aberdeen April 9 and lO, The first day was devoted to solos and small groups, Our representative for the events of the first day was Beverly Dobberpuhl, who presented a Clairnet solo, nConcerto Rondo in Bb Majorn, Beverly was accompanied by Ardis Fahrenwald at the piano, We were glad to hear that she rated a third on her solo, On April lO, the members of the Band, Girls Glee Club, and Mixed Chorus were privileged to go to Aberdeen to com- pete, A total of thirty-six students Contest, The students found the Contest and all had a fine time, Upon learning tha under the able direction of Mr, Bulka, sha with Claremont, everyone was over-joyed. three selections, NHeadwayN, HMatineen, Trumpetersu, By winning first, the Band to participate in the National Region ll Aberdeen on May 15, The Girls Glee Club received a third sang for their selection, Newest and Lowa pa rticipated in the very interesting t the C,H.S. Band red first place The Band played and nThe Phantom was thus eligible Music Contest, in rating, The Girls The Mixed Chorus also received a third rating. This musical group of students presented their selection, Hwindy Weathern, At 8 O'clock in the evening a large group of students attended the Grand Concert, in which the first place winners of the various events presented their numbers, The Band, upon receiving a first division rating, was then eligible to compete in the National Region ll Music Contest in Aberdeen May 15, The Band has been striving for the past several years to receive a ufirstu, and now that the opportunity has come the Band is eager to attend the National Contest, Confronted with the problem of raising money for Con- test purposes, the students themselves dug in and helped to raise the money by selling tickets to the Home Music Concert and by giving concerts in the street in the evenings, Now that we have o good start we hope that the Band keeps up its excellent record for another year, MUSIC LETTERS 1 Eleven students in Conde High School are eligible for music letters. These letters are given for participating in various musical organizations, Each student must have re- ceived BO points to :ern a letter. The students who earned letters this year are as follows: Edward Brown, Eunice Cutshaw, Beverly Dobpefsusl, LilabHerr, Anna Herring, Bette Lofthouso, Reese .MathiOu, Wave Morrill, Alton Rapp, Bette Schneider, and Anna White, N 54

its L J' iN. SOLO 4 , Beverly Dobberpuhl, Conde 'High's Clarinet soloist, entered the Regional Music Contest in Aberdeen. This was the only solo entered by Conde High School. Feverly chose UConcerto Rondo in Bb Majorn for her eeleetlon. Ardis Fahrenwald was her accompanist. Qbe received a third rating in the contest- SAXAPHONE QUARTETTE A saxaphonetquartette was organized under the direct- ion of Mr. Bulka. The group consisted of Edward .HpBnown, Alys Cleveland, Allen Lenz, and Mr. Bulka.
