MUSIC ACTIVITIES Last September the students of Conde Hish School, who were interested in music, reported either to Miss Duncan or to Mr. Foskl, according to the mrous which they wished to Join. The band began practice and Hworked inn a great number of new students. By the time of the music contest nearly one-h lf of the bend consisted of beginning students. The bend :ads their first appearance at the Junior Class clay in November, and presented seve sl blessing numbers. Immedi- ately sfter Christmas the students settled down to herd Work in preparation for the Spring Contest. Their next appear- ance was st the Senior Class play Given in the sorlrlfr- A13 the Contest in Aberdeen the band received s rstinz of Nix- cellentn, much the sfme ss of former vesrs. Under the supervision of Miss Tuncen e girls trio Wes started, but alas, they did not make e public snnearcnce. No reel progress was made during the first pert of the rear becsuse of the time given to the fall sthletics. , The boys, under the able supervision of 'Vr. Voski, organized a Qoys Glow Club. They Worked diligently on the numbers they selected to sine et the Music Contest. The boys sans exceedingly well and had hlsh hopes of retina at the contest. The Girls Glee Club under the direction of Miss Duncan also worked herd end presented several numbers both at the home concert end at the Music Contest in Aberdeen. They received s retins of HGoodN. Mr. Foskl directed the Mixed Chorus. Their concert numbers were uTodav There Is Rlnsingn, NPrayerU and HBesut1- ful Savioru. All in all we fell quite satisfied with our music accomplishments and feel encouraged to enter the contest next yeer. 59

SC10 I WQJUG Cleveland, Conde H15h's baritone soloist, for the second time in two yesrs entered the Regional Music Contest in Aberdeen. His was the only solo entered by Conde High. He chose as 'his selection HNellie Grayu. Beverly Dobberpuhl was his accompanist. Wayne received s third rstin5 this year and a second in 1940. ' CLARINET QUINTETTE Under the able supervision of Nr. Koski, a clarinet guintette was organized. In sglte of the fact that they did not commence until after the second semester, it .aooome plished much. The five students who particijeted in the quintette were: Jerry Thomas, Anna Herr1nQ, Eeverly Dobberpuhl, Neil Lenz, and Ardis Fahrenwald.
