We Proudly Dedicate The 1987 Pillars Dr Merle L. Radke 144785 To A distinguished professor and respected friend, Dr. Radke has been a member of the Concordia faculty since 1957. Over 40 years of his life have been spent sewing our Lord in the teaching ministry. Those who have come to know him have inevitably groum to love him, for his genuine concem for others and his optimistic outlook are a true blessing, and he extends him- self to everyone in service. I-lis Store of knowledge is immense, and he eagerly shares it with his students, challenging them to greater heights of leaming. He received his BA from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska, has an MA from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and eamed his Doctorate in Phi- losophy at Northwestem University, Evanston, Illinois. l'le also holds the Honorary Doctorate of Letters degree awarded by his alma mater, Concor- dia Teachers College, in Seward, Nebraska: was honored as Distinguished Professor of Englishf' has rank of professor of English: and is the Dean of Arts and Sciences here at Concordia. Throughout Dr. Radke's years of dedication to this school he has also shomm his dedication to his family. l'le and his wife Marjorie Ruth tliuebnerl have two daughters, Sharlyne and Jeaninne, who have in tum with their husbands, Dennis and Alan, given Dr. Radke four grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel, Jeffrey and Aaron. Above all, Dr. Radke is humble. Every student who has had the privilege of participating in his class has undoubtably heard his favorite addage, l'm not smarter than you . . . l just know more. His obvious love for leaming and for his students combined with dedication to his profession result in a genuine regard and respect held for him by faculty, staff, and students alike. ln recognition of his love and dedication to his Lord, his profession and his students, we proudly dedicate the 1986-1987 Pillars to Dr. Merle L. Radke.
