Zin Memoriam PROP. R. T. ROHLFING Before us We see the picture of a man whose love for his church and un- tiring efforts toward his calling will never be forgotten. Professor Richard T. Rohlfing served the Lord as mission pastor at St. lohn's Lutheran Church, Townsend, Wisconsin tor two years and as instructor at Concordia, River Forest for over thirty-five years. Professor Rohlfing continued his studies while at Concordia and he re- ceived the degree of Master of Music from Northwestern University, Evanston, in 1937. While at Concordia, Professor Rohlfing served as director of the concert band from 1925 until 1950. l-le became Chairman of the Division of Music at Concordia in 1947. During his tenure in this office he played an important role in the design and construction of the Music Center on the Concordia cam- pus. He also published three Christmas Cantatas and various selections for piano and band. ln the midst of continuing his never ending devotion to the Kingdom of God, Professor Rohlfing was called to his heavenly home, April 13, 1958. Our memories of him will never be forgotten. Be thou faithful unto death, and 1 will give thee a crown of life - Rev. 2, 10.

DR. IOHN W. BEHNKEN pecfication His Lord said unto him, Well done thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, 1 will make thee ruler over many things - Matt, 25, 21. Such a servant is the man who was elected president of the Texas District of the Missouri Synod in 1926, elected second vice-president of Synod in 1929, first vice-president in 1932 and president of the Missouri Synod in 1935. ln ad- dition to holding these administration duties in Synod, he served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston for over twenty-seven years. ln grateful acknowledgement of the many years of tireless and unselfish service given to his beloved Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as its president, and, with a just pride in the many tasks accomplished in the interest of lengthen- ing the cords and strengthening the stakes of the Church Militant through his guidance and leadership, we respectfully dedicate this volume to Dr. Iohn W. Behnken, humble servant of God, unclaunted and courageous, yet modest and unassuming, bowing in humble obedience to the supreme authority of God's holy Word.

XXXXXXX uf penn .flaeab . We 'WW CARL HALTER As this is being Written the Christmas lights of the manger scene outside the office Window are spreading color over the first snow of winter. Through my open door l can hear a carol being sung somewhere. Some of you haven't had enough even after caroling since 7:00 o'clock this evening. lt is now l0:30 on the night of the annual Christmas Sing . When you read these Words the memory of the manger scene and the carols Will be more distant than it was on the night of December l7, but l hope and believe it will still be strong. This is our hope for all the memories which you will have of your years at Concordia. Some of them are pictured in this book. Perhaps, however, the most significant and lasting ones cannot be pictured at all but can only be stored in the soul. We hope that these memories, and those which future sons and daughters of Concordia will share, Will serve to enrich your lives, and to form a bond with us who remain behind as you leave. if Carl Halter Dean of Students XXXXXXX
