XXXXXXXXXXXXXX Our Lord once told His Church: Behold, l have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it. CRevelation 3:83. This is a very large promise for the most courageous and trusting heart. lt is a blank check, signed by our Lord, to the treasure of success in the Work of the kingdom. lt is not uncommon for young graduates of this College - or any college, for that matter - to assume their initial responsibilities in their vocation with the highest of ideals, the noblest of ambi- tions, and brightest of dreams for future successes. Practical people smile tolerantly at them, and wait to Wear these young idealists down to the nub of mediocrity. My dear son or daughter in Christ, you Will meet many experiences which can corrode the metal of your ambition, stifle the outlets of your spirit, and quench the flame of your enthusiasm for the Gospel and for the ministry. You can bring yourself to the point Where you rationalize your slothful- ness away, defend your rut of commonplace and trite performance, and excuse your little efforts in a great cause. But lesus Christ Will not let you settle for puny peanut prayers, nor Will He cease to lay claim to the best that is in you. You were bought at too high a price for Him to smile upon unfaithfulness. Give Him your heart, your talents, and your best, and He Will always give you Open Doors.
