Y Yxi II, X . ? vq e, f 1, I Meet The New President By the grace of Cod Concordia has again been blessed with a capable administrator and spiritual leader. Dr. Arthur Klinck left Concordia at the end of the first quarter in 1953 after ably serving Concordia as president for fourteen years. Dr. Schmieding, academic dean. took over the reins until the, new president -was installed on September 16, 1954. President Martin L. Koebneke was born April 11, 1916, in Dodge Center, Minnesota. 1n preparation for the ministry -he attended Concordia College, Milwaukee, and Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis. He also studied educational administration at the graduate school of the University of Texas, Austin. At the time when President Koehneke was called to Concordia Teachers College, he was Counselor for Parish Education of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Upon being installed as the sixth president of Concordia Teachers College, President Koehneke faced the diflicult task of directing Concordia as its administrator and in particular, as its spiritual leader. It is in this latter capacity, especially, that the President has found a warm spot in the hearts of the entire Concordia community. As may be seen in one of the pictures, on this page, President Koehneke is close to the students in a very friendly and informal way. At the same time he has upheld the dignity and respect due to his calling as our elder and guide. May the Lord bless you and keep you, President Koehneke, as an instrument of our Lord here at Concordia. 6
