F OREWORD Under God, Concordia has completed its 86th academic year. Another group of graduates is entering the educational system of our church. We have seen history being made on at least three fronts during the year, 1950-51: largest enrollment in the history of the school, 559 students, the first complete school year as a member ofthe North Central Association of colleges and Secondary Schools, and the first academic year as a tour year college, without a high school department on the same campus. For these reasons we have been called, the New Concordia. The 1951 Pillars attempts to portray lite at the New Concordia. We trust that you will use this volume often to relive the good old days.

My Dear young co-workers, Each one of you is a child of God and an heir of eternal life through faith in Christ jesus. The Lord has given you an excellent education. All along the way He has been preparing you for the moment when you will enter your life work as professional servants of the Church. That moment is close at hand. Will you pause with me right now and ask with the psalmist, What shall I ren- der unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me? Then I am sure you will whole-heart- edly join Him in His three solemn promises. I will take the cup of salvation, the daily forgiveness of all my sins, the continu- ed assurance of His abundant grace in His Word and sacrament. Yes, I will take this cup of salvation! f'Wbat shall l remlev' zmto the Lord for all Hix benefits toward me? I 'will take the cup of ml- fuatiovz, and call upon the mime of the Lord. I 'will pay my 'vofws unto the Lord now in the presence of all His people. - - - Psnlv-11116112-I4 7 I will call upon the name of the Lord.' ln private prayer I will pour out my soul to Him. In the classroom and in public worship I will join my fellow-Christians and lead them to use and to appreciate the blessed privilege that is theirs. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the pre-sence of all His people. My per- sonal vows of faithfulness which I made at baptism and confirmation - - - these I will earnestly strive to keep. My professional vow which I am soon to make 7 - - I will make it sincerely, gratefully, joyfully, now, in the presence of all His people. May God be with you and make you confident and effective teachers of His un- failing grace. Sincerely, ARTHUR KLINCK, President
