DIRE STRAITS made this song no. 1 until HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS came with The Power of Love from the movie BACK TO THE FUTURE. Another movie soundtrack hit was ST. ELMO'S FIRE. Former Eagle John Parr sang it. Music from TV took the charts by force. MIAMI VICE had a soundtrack with songs like Smugglers' Blues and You Belong to the City. Many foreign bands were popular in the US. From Oslo, Norway A-HA sang Take on Me and The Sun Always Shines ON TV TEARS FOR FEARS had the smash hits Shout , Head Over Heels and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. WHAM! From England did MAKE IT BEST includ- ing Careless Whisper and Freedom. I'm Your Man off their second album climbed to the top. Canadian BRYAN ADAMS sang about Heav- en and One Night Love Affair. Heavy Metal? After coming back from a violent car accident, MOTLEY CRUE came up with a 60's remake of Smokin' in the Boys' Room. RATT came in and INVADED YOUR PRIVACY with You're in Love. ZZ TOP stormed up the charts with Sleeping Bag , renaming it then as Heavy Metals Rings. Fun, Music 5
