The basic elements of reporting and working at various jobs of newspaper production are experienced. The school year 73-74 saw some far-reaching changes in the senior high language arts department One of these was the development of a new course called PUBLICATIONS, devoted entirely to year- book production. Sixteen members of the 11th and 12th grades are currently enrolled. These students have learned from first-hand ex- perience that a multitude of talents is necessary to publish the record of any given year. Among other things, they have been involved in selling adverti- sing, scheduling pictures, operating concession stands, designing lay-outs, writing copy, meeting deadlines, and checking, checking, and double checking. A new feature of this year's book is the expan- ded coverage of the junior high. This has been ac- complished with the co-operation of Mrs. Barber's 7th hour class in 8th grade English, under the super- vision of Hurkaru's Junior High Editor, Jacque Passmore. Two field trips which highlighted the year were the American Yearbook Workshop at C.C.C.C. and the publications tour to Topeka in the spring. CHAPUT FUNERAL HOME CONCORDIA.
