72-73 Season Brings Panthers Concordia basketball fans fell in love with the 1972-73 Panthers. Their hustle, defense, and never- say-die spirit carried them to a 16-6 season record, second place in the N. C. K. L. , second place in the regional tournament, and first place in the Concordia Invitational Tournament. They were rated in the top ten of the state in both the WICHITA EAGLE and TO- PEKA DAILY over the last ten weeks of the season, finishing fourth in the Wichita paper for the highest finish of any Concordia team in history. Five of the six losses were by a total of twenty points. This team will always be remembered as a hustling, aggressive squad that gave forth great effort every night they played. Coach Tacha. Champs Our goal has been to win the North Central Kansas League Championship, and this year our goal has been attained. Twenty-three boys paid the price with sweat, hard work, dedication, and many miles of running over some of the most rugged ground in America. TTiis team won first place trophies at Abilene, Marysville, Clay Center, and in the N.C.K.L. championships. The Panthers placed second in the 3A Regional Competition and ninth in the state championships. Outstanding performances were turned in by Doug Montoya, John Horkman, Mike Montoya, Norman Clark, Bill Martin, Daryl Folkerts, Jim Pearson, Alan Souchek, Keith Kersenbrock, and Mike Hattan.
