mfewowl ERMEATING the atmosphere of a college community is the desire for growth. Concordia College, springing from the midwestern plains, has become a section of the great vineyard which is the Church. Concordia seeks to preserve a religious, academic, and cultural atmosphere . . . an environment conducive to growth in wisdom and stature. Branches of the mighty Vine, cultivated by Christian influence, here learn to recognize the central Vine as their support, their source of sustenance. Cobbers come and go, but always there is a nucleus not limited to preparation for the future but actually living in the present . . . shaken by winds perhaps, but thriving in the rain and sunlight of life. We cannot, between the covers of this book, completely depict Concordia in her multiple phases, but in this, the twenty-third yearbook published by the Concordia student body, we provide a repository of memories. We propose in these pages to portray a panorama of Concordia . . . rooted in the past . . . facing broad horizons in the future . . . but living in the present- Concordia . . . as you have known her.
