Cobber Band arching mm amz! women make memf mum ARCHING musicians in Cobber Band en- liven the homecoming parade with their martial airs and sharpen enthusiasm among students and players as they strike up a tune at home games, in our gymnasium, or at the football stadium. Foot. ball fans Watched them step in rhythm at the home- coming half-time performance. Under the direc- tion of Leif Christianson and student director Leon Flancher, the band polishes its numbers in the Mu- sic Hall before public performances. Leon Flancher pulls peppy march music from the Cobber Band in the balcony. Crashing cymbals and blowing horns sound through the Fieldhouse as Cobber Band gives the go ahead signal to a cheering basketball crowd. RGANIZED in October, the first Concordia Oratorio Chorus and orchestra, rehearsed under the usic direction of Mr. Buckley, and Professors Sigvald and Y- Isabelle Thompson. Faculty and students participate Carolyn Moen, in this group to share their talents as singers and instrumentalists. In Ianuary the group presented, as its Hrst concert, Franz Schubert's Mass in G Major and Holy is God by Phillip Bach. Oratorio Trumpeters-Dave Stolee, Ion Lund, and Gene Okerlund-play obli- gato While Professor Roy Stahl plays organ accompaniment and the chorus sings Holy Is God. Singing with the Oratorio Chorus in its premiere performance-Alice Skyberg, Karen Larson, and Ianice Terras form part of the soprano section. In premiere performance Jlet Clcmcnscn, Nancy Thyscll, e Miller, Porlil fn, Leon Olson, thlccn Belgumf 'g Harold HHH' The sixty-five voices of the Oratorio Chorus blend with the strains of string orchestra as the group, composed of both faculty and students performs Franz Schubert's Mass in G Major for its first concert in Trinity Lutheran Church.
