Mu Phi Epsilon mf music majors, minors NE of 'the most active organizations on campus, Mu Phi Epsilon, meets bi-monthly in the Chapter Room in the Music Hall. A list of their activities proves adherence to the sorority's motto, Seeketh Not Her Own. They give a yearly scholar- ship, bring music into hospitals and provide ushers for the Artist Course and Lecture Series. Members of the Phi Iota chapter also gave a reception for Rita Streich, coloratura soprano, after her concert. This national professional honor society in music estab- lished in 1903 now has 17,000 members. Election to membership is based on scholarship, musicianship, character and personality The Concordia chapter totals its membership at twenty-Hve. Art, Philosophy Clubs Arking, what if b66ZZLljf?U ONVINCED that art is an essential part of a liberal arts education, a group of art students reor- ganized -the Art Club, which had fallen into a state of inactivity. Membership was thrown open to the entire student body because the group desired to create an active interest in the Hne arts. The initial meeting featured a program of European slides pre- sented by Mr. Bowman, an art instructor who spent three years in Germany. The Philosophy Club meets once a month to foster the exchange of ideas on philosophical questions. Dr. Aalen, professor in theology from Norway, was one of their most outstanding speakers. Other speak- ers included Rev. Svendsbye and Mr. Grubb. Dr. Reidar Thomte, head of the philosophy department, is advisor to the club. Q 13.
