Every student has at some- time received correspondence from Mr. Rendahl, Dean of Admissions. The chief purposes of the Of- fice of Admissions are attracting and selecting stu- dents. Dr. Bailey, dean of instruction, sets high scholastic standards and seeks to create an academic atmosphere in which these standards can be met. Handling those long lines of registering students each September and Ianuary constitutes a part of Registrar Dale's job. The business side of administration is directed by the controller, Mr. Smaby. Coordinator of public relations, Dale Mitchell, arrived on campus in 1955. As of this year he heads the Oiiice of Public Relations which is no longer combined with the Oliice of Admissions. Another basement oflice in Old Main is that of Development Where Mr. Larson, general secretary, Works to make continuous improvement of the college possible. Although each of these administrators fills a separate position, the character of their duties demands and receives close cooperation, they work together to- ward the same goal. Knutson, the faculty, and the ad- ministration-set themselves to the job of shaping student minds to meet problems of today. Dr. Knut- son, president since 1951, has sparked the Concordia campus with his broad view of education. Reflecting their confidence in his leadership, the Board of Di- rectors re-elected him this fall to another six-year term. Old Main with administrative offices, classrooms and laboratories shows the half-century which it has spent as center of Concordia. Emanating from a third Hoor studio, KOBB is our radio voice on cam- pus. Another attic in Old Main provides headquarters for the Cobber Yearbook staff. Concordia Theatre performan-ces temporarily transform a rather battered stage into a place of excitement. Old Main remains the hub of Concordia. Iust down the hall is the Office of the Controller, representing another vital part of administration. The controller's assistant is Mr. Danielson. Operating with bank-like procedure, the business ofhce staff handles checking accounts for all student groups, agency offers a place for individual students to deposit funds for safe-keeping. Director of Food Service, Miss Amy Erickson, manages the college cafeteria, Norse Room and snack bar. Responsible for making our campus live- M ALM able and lovely is Mr. Sanden, superintendent of Cxgordiacc buildings and grounds. He is in charge of providing heat and light.
