DEDICATION When we look back over the forty years of our Concordia we think primarily of our first president. Dr, A. H. Schwermann, who served his Lord faithfully in this position for thirty-three years. To him, who has guided our Concordia through years of both poverty and prosperity, we dedicate this book. Our Lord has accorded me the kindness to serve our beloved Concordia over a period of forty years. It was a high privilege to assist in laying the foundations of our first Canadian School for the training of workers in the Kingdom. It was a joy to observe the physical, mental, and spiritual development of hundreds of students and to do this in the company of those co-workers, especially on the staff, who were always ready to give their whole-hearted cooperation. And boundless is the satis¬ faction to observe how our former Concordians are, with consecration and en¬ thusiasm, leading souls to eternal life through the private and public proclamation of the glorious message: The blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanseth us from all sin. Reviewing the past, I am compelled to say: Goodness and mercy have followed me all the days of my life. Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name give glory, for Thy mercy and Thy truth ' s sake. May our gracious Lord continue to lead His never-ending streams of blessings into our Concordia until the church militant will have become the church triumphant, where we shall be forever with our Jesus. l.J C wW «- f '
