'TL Aeheh-ESX '94 THE JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY Our numbers had been drawn, we had passed our examinations , and were inducted into the army of high school students in September of 1939. At first, as rookies, we were quiet and shy, but we got over hardships and became accustomed to the life. During our first year of service , Ruth Maihle, Louise'Ma.ih1e, and Florence Allison were transferred to camp North Washington. Hugh Howard and Charles Brown, conscientious objectors of the draft, were released. After serving one yea.r,'Ruth Barnhart, Alfred Ball, Ralph Karenbauer, and Virginia Hildebrand left- army life for home. The remainder of our troop enlisted for three more years. We also gained one member when Corporal Betty Buchanan was transferred from Camp Hickory, Sharon, to our camp, but lost her when she was again transferred. We were now corporals, having been promoted to that rank after our first year of service. The officers of our troop were: Colonel, llargaret Hovisg Lieutenant Colonel, Francie Burkettg and Major Franklyn Snyder. We remained corporale for a year before being promoted to the rank of sergeant, and we are now serving our third year in the arm of high school life. At the beginning of the year camps Concord and North Washington were joined together to make a much larger troop. The new officers were: Colonel, llabel Graham, Lieutenant Colonel, Lester llabting Major, Helen Logutg and Captain, Wilma Campbells J, A Next year we will finish our term in the army of high school students. We iish to thank, our commanders, the faculty, for the help they have given UB. We also wish the best of luck to the sergeante, the graduating class of 19141-1.2. label Graham.
