You have exemplified to our student body and our opponents The true spirit of sportsmanship. You have always given your best to the game and to the team. You have always been faithful To your obligation as a coach and a teacher to be clean in deed and Thought. But more than These Things, you have been a friend and counselor to organizations and to individuals. In your quiet but forceful manner, you have guided us in our actions. You have stayed us when we would have been wrong in our reasoning and rash in deed. You have encouraged us when we would contribute something useful and good. For these reasons, Coach, we cite you with the dedication of our annual. Fflw V QS 4 . C . 6 6 dxf Nl E X 'X I Y gp gf.. 'T ' X. The CHS Chorus, with 59 voices this year, had the busiest year ever. They worked hard and sang a wide variety of songs. The 1953-54 season started early, with three appearances at church programs in town. The Chorus sang for the Preachl ing Missions at the Trinity Reformed and Central Methodist Churches, and par- ticipated in the city-wide Song of Methodism given at Central Methodist Church. Appearances at CHS followed quickly as the Chorus and Bible Department joined together to present a Thanksgiving program and Christmas pageant for the students. The new year found the chorus preparing for a tour of the elementary schools in town and the District Contest. Determination ran high in the Chorus to get a Superior rating in the contest this year. The Chorus at CHS exists to stimulate and create an active interest in music. Membership is open to all who are interested in contributing to the musical activity at Concord High. These intrepid recorders of events are the staffs Spider Web and Weavings. The reader will notice the forlorn and exhausted expressions on the faces of those pictured above and below. lt was a particularly bad year for the business managers. What with the reces- sion and all, our ad-getters have both retired to a mountain rest home. However, nine issues of the Weavings are out with only one more to go, and this epistle has been bought and possessed by its proper owner. lt really wasn't so bad, now, we kinda liked staying at school 'til 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. about four times a month. And it was a lot of fun and kinda of novel too, to watch the sun rise every other morning. But our consolation is that we have helped enliven and enlighten life at CHS.
