Determined that neither the faculty nor the august upper classmen should be ignorant of our undoubted, but hitherto unrecognized, genius, we played the usual Sophomore pranks. Much to our amazement, our efforts went unheralded and unheededg therefore, disconsolately, we turned our minds to more serious matters. We were given the privilege of electing class oflicers. We chose wisely, electing Robin Graves, a vivacious miss, for President the Sophomore year. Ar the very first of the year we were all grieved at the death of our beloved and venerable Superintendent of schools, Louis John Rundlett. At the time of his death Mr. Rundlett was beginning his fiftieth year of service in the Concord school systems. In spite of our hopes, nothing spectacular happened during our first year at Concord High School, except that some of us congratulated ourselves on finally mastering--or was it surviving?-that mathematical demon, geometry. We really felt that each of us should have a medal for this feat, something told us, however, that members of the faculty would not agree. Alas, our worth was still unrecog- nized. Our Junior year was one of greater seriousness. Again, we elected Robin Graves President. Gerard Martel, although only a Junior, was chosen President of the Dramatic Club. During this year the twelve-year system was adopted. Fortunately-or perhaps unfortunately-this did not apply to us. At the end of this year we were saddened by the retirement of our Headmaster, Mr. Cook. For almost thirty years Mr. Cook was known and held in deep affection by the students of Concord High School. Returning to school for our last year, with Alphonse Cote for President, we were determined to make it the most successful. Mr. Tucker became our new Headmaster. Another change was noted, this time, in the building itself, for the gymnasium was being equipped with large folding doors completely dividing it into two parts. Many of our class are athletically inclined, but one of our members brought fame to Concord High School through his athletic ability. Yes, we refer to Dick Meade of the Cross Country Team, who ranked first both in the New Hampshire and in the New England Cross Country Meet, and eleventh in the National Meet. We are proud to have him as a member of our class. We know he will travel far. Looking backward through the years, we feel a sense of immeasurable grati- tude for those who have given us the necessary foundation to face and to solve our problems in life. Words cannot express our thanks to you, Mr. Cook and Mr. Tucker, for your guidance and interest throughout these three years. The Class of 1936 had the honor to have Mr. Cook for an honorary member. So may we be privileged to consider Mr. Tucker an honorary member of the Class of 1937i
