PREPARE FOR A BUSINESS CAREER. ABGVE: The students of the typing class strive for speed and accuracy as Miss Steele, a practice teacher from Ball State, supervises. AT RIGHT: The ability to take notes in shorthand is another im- portant asset to a Well-trained sec- retary. Here Mrs. Fisher dictates to Mary Jane Hoffman, Eileen Myers and Vonda Hutchison. Our society could not function without business. Our school trains students in typing, boo kke e p ing, shorthand, general business, and office practice. After the complete commercial course, the student, who merits the department'srecom- mendation, can take a position as a bookkeeper, typist, stenographer or secretary, with confidence that she will be able to perform her tasks efficiently. Under the guidance of Mrs. Fisher the office practice students are given practical experience in the many varied tasks ofa secretary. These students compiled mailing lists, made programs, tickets and circulars for several departments and organizations. 21

T0 PREPARE FOR VOCATIONS . . . Under the leadership of Mr. Showalter, these boys have proved they can make some very attractive articles from wood. John Witt and Gerald Sassa- man make a few minor adjustments on John's car during auto mechanic's class. As each person takes his place in the world, he will find that there is work which must be done. Every girl dreams of a home of her own and the courses in home making and home nursing enable her to function as an efficient homemaker. Metal working and industrial arts prepare boys for a valuable role in his own home and give him a background for work in industry.
