On a dark rainy night rn a basement flat there IS a th1n man with long unkept ha1r work 1ng 1n a makeshift workshop He IS about to put the fvmshrng touches on a discovery which will astound the world He works feverishly mutterrng to himself Here a bolt there a bolt everywhere a bolt Then Eureka lt s frrnshed my sight seemg rocket sh1p And his face turns a brilliant red Suddenly he turns thoughtful realizing he has no one who will invest 1n h1s drscovery The frrst person who comes to his m1nd IS the soph1st1cated millionaire Mrs Ray Hellman Then he sees her and recelves her consent prov1ded that his first v1s1t w1ll be to Mars with the Concord Class of 49 as passengers Mrs Hellman has been told there 1S a great deposrt of gold there After discussing the details of the rocket sh1p they f1nd that the seatzng capacity rs 40 As there were 44 1n the class aisle seats will be installed Now is the task of finding all of the Forty nmers The most logrcal place for Mrs Hell man to go IS back to Concord High School There she finds the cutstand1ng ccach of basket ball in the United States Dave Martxn Hrs team of last eason won the State tourney He is also coaching a professional team which 1ncludes the famous Sweazy brothers Walt and Bob also lack Nelson who has finally grown up and 1 now the tallest man in the basket ball world Playing forward positron IS Gayle Flamion who IS faithfully following h1s diet and steam baths At center IS Irm Perkxns who is still a star as he was rn 49 These boys tell her lack Neff IS a Representatwe in Washington D C He IS the founder of the Coon Party wh1ch IS trying to clean up the government When Mrs Hellman and the boys reach Washington they visit the most elaborate and expensive night club Chief Willys Wigwam They are met by the hostess Mrs Williams formerly Shirley Herrlr Lyle Williams IS the distinguished owner They are seated by the hos show starts they see the very popular band of Dean Replogle But who IS that beautrful blond at the piano? 'P Is 1t no 1t cant be but 1t 1S Ioan Cobb who 1S now Mrs Replogle As they play their first number Ella Mae Nelson the can can queen leads the chorus line onto the runway It1ncludes Beverley Bubbles Rapp Mary Queen1e Hutchison and Betty Grable DeMetz As they leave the Wigwam they f1nd they re confused in the1r directions Seeing a mounted ooliceman gallopmg down the street on his horse they stop him and find its none other than the Captain of the Mounted Police Ierry Kissinger After 1nv1t1ng him to come along and asking d1rect1ons to the hotel they call a cab As it comes to a screeching halt they realize th driver IS Phyllis Tharp As it IS too late to call another cab they all get in and have an exciting trip to the hotel Upon entering the hotel they look for the hat check girl They see she IS Norma Moore After registering they get into the elevator and lo and behold the opera tor IS none other than Donna Dean She IS well known because her lifts are yust like riding on a Cloud After getting settled 1n her room Mrs Hellman hears strange noises coming from down the hall Thinking someone mlght be 1ll sh decides to 1nvest1gate and f1nds its only the famous Lucky Strike quartet Know 3 ir' numberl pract1c1ng for the1r next perform ance The members of this tr1o are Fred Earnhart Marvin Mmegar and I1m Eldridge In qu1r1ng as to what happened to the fourth member she f1nds Fred Detw1ler got so good he decrded to start out on h1S own Retiring to her suite her sleep IS d1sturbed by a leaking faucet dnp drop drip Looking through the phone book she f1nds the Elite Plumbing Co When the plumber arrives she f1nds xt 1S Gene Warfel 1C t do Pqe47 . . . .
