“1970-CONCORD COLLEGE-1971 HAIL CONCORD COLLEGE, HATS OFF TO YOU EVER YOU ' LL FIND US LOYAL AND TRUE FIRM AND UNDAUNTED, ALWAYS WE LL BE HAIL TO THE SCHOOL WE LOVE, HERE ' S A TOAST TO THEE Concord College, the Campus Beautiful, located at Athens, West Virginia. Concord College. Is it just a name or a place, or does it stand for something more? I wonder how many students have ever stopped to ask themselves what Concord College is, or what it represents. Some students will say that Concord College is a place of higher learning, others will say that it is a place to escape from your parents for four years, and still others will say that it is a place to have fun at their parent ' s expense. All of these statements may be true, but beneath all of these ideas you will find that Concord College is simply people. Yes, Concord College is people, people from all corners of America and from all walks of life. Concord is a community within a community. Concord is the interaction of people with other people. People living together, people working together, people making friends, and people having fun. Without these people Concord would cease to exist. People are the living heartbeat of Concord College. They give it life. They provide the nourishment to make it pulsate, expand, and grow ever larger and larger. People are Con¬ cord ' s umbilical cord of life; cut the cord and Concord would be doomed to a slow, strangl¬ ing death. Yes, without people Concord College would cease to exist. Concord is truly people, and people are the greatest thing in the world. 3
