A college annual is a picture-story of the people who create a particular spirit on that campus. Basi¬ cally the ingredients are the same everywhere; the difference comes in the quantity and quality of each characteristic. Some people automatically stand out—not because they are better or more important but because they have something to say, some in¬ sight to give, some ability to be admired. Mr. Sam Hindman of the Charleston Daily Mail staff wrote about Sharon Fridley, a Concord freshman, she is an extraordinary young lady . . . radiating an excess of energy enabling her to maintain a multitude of interests ranging from being an infectious profes¬ sional football fan to an accomplished saxophone player. Sherry is blind but her handicap did not discourage her to the point of letting loose of her dream for a college education. Problems? Yes, many. But this is what makes her a special ingredient on campus. About walking across campus, Sherry said with a laugh, I take an occasional spill in the winter, but this helps me keep in shape! With the help of her readers Teri Clay and Mary Graber and a tape recorder studying is not a special difficulty. Sharon Fridley, a student with accomplishment and direction, is proud to be a member of Concord ' s student body, and Concord proudly claims her. 5
