Mg' S! ...A Relays Qualify The Lady Cougar Track and Field Team this year was extraordinary. Our indoor season was just as successful as our outdoor season. With an indoor record of 5 and 1, none of us were complaining. Especially since the only loss was to Oak Park, a quite remarkable team. The total season's record was 11 and 2, Conant's best ever. The height of our season was at the Lady Cougar Track Classic. At this meet we all tend to get extremely psyched up. As a result most competetors attain their personal best. The whole team becomes involved in the LCTC. This team work is what brought us our success. ln the past years our team seemed to have split into the different areas of weights, jumps, sprints, and distance. But this year our team came together as a whole. This was definitely expressed by the amount of State Qualifiers we had. Instead of indivi- duals we had two relay teams qualify, the 400 meter relay and the 1600 meter relay. Five school records were broken this season: the long jump, 3200 meter relay, 400 meter relay, 300 meter hurdles, and 1600 meter relay. Our accomplishments were not easy to attain. All of us put in a tremendous amont of hard work and dedication. Our head coach Mr. Goodman, better known as Goody, gave us our workouts which never seemed to be easy. I must admit that we did give him a hard time by complaining, but the job was always well done. Although the Seniors will be physically gone next year, we will be there in spirit. Later Days and Good Luck, Renee Soucek iClockwise-belovvj Petrina lones takes the curve with speed. Breaking the school record in long lump is Amanda Bishop. A successful hand-off lo Jenny Kleckner by Pam O'Leksy. Putting all ol her etlort behind her throw is Amy Dixon. leanine Powers approaches the 300 hurdles with determination. Clearing her lump is Michelle Dickey. Beata Kielar leads the pack to the finish ol the relay. Helping her team run to victory is Renee Soucek. Girls' Track! 91

Cougar Baseball Breaks Record The 1986 Cougar baseball team should be proud ot their accomplishments as a team as well as individually. The team did things this year that never happened in any other season, such as a broken school reccrd for 17 wins. At one point their record stood at 15-5. The entrance into the play-offs also reflects the teams potential, even though they lost the first game to St. Viator. Individually, congratulations are in order. Tony Licari and Mark Kuftel both went all Conference. Team members George Lacko, Tony Licari, John Miroballi, and Mark Kuffel all participated in the HAL Sphere All Star Game. Next year's team is also hopeful being that some of the younger players were able to gain experience needed by playing this year. This makes them one step closer to a winning team. Good luck to all ot you. ttllockwise-abovej Coach Fritz gives batting tips to Joe Cowans before he steps up to the plate. Den McDougald hurries back to third base before being thrown out.
