Young Team Set Goals High Being the only senior leaving the team, I feel very confident in next years team's success. The team has many talented players all of whom are returning next year. Even though we had one of the youngest Varsity teams in conference consisting mostly of sophomores, we always gave 11071. Every year our season improves with all the hard work put into it. We may not have achieved every goal we set, but we had a lot of fun trying. Best of luck for the 1986 soccer season and beating Fremd. Love, Monika Zimmer CClockwise-right! Even in hone-chilling weather the Cougars are number one. Keeping the ball from the opponents is Paulette Wiebe. Paulette Wiebe and Kim Noonan take a break form a tiring soccer game. The Cougars move the ball down the field. Patti Kowalick takes control of the ball. Taking a break are Kim Noonan and Jen Taccini. 56! Girls' Soccer

New Team Finds Success The 1985 cross country season was a surprise to everyone. Labeled as The New Team because most of the team graduated last year, we had to establish our own identity. With consistant summer training and the will to prove everyone in the state wrong, we were on our way to bringing back another state trophy. On our quest to state we went undefeated in dual meets Q12-OJ. In the beginning of the season, we went against Schaumburg. This meet was our first and one of the most important ones to win for the South Division Title. We won it with the score of 27-30. Then we went against Wheeling, who were picked to win the State meet, and beat them also. We won the LaGrange Invite, the Forest City Invite, the Sterling lnvite, and in the Oak Park Invite we placed second losing to the number one ranked team in the state. Even though we lost the M.S.L.Championship by one point to Wheeling, we still were South Division Champs, placing three in the top five and five in the top thirty. Even though some teams and reporters still con- sidered us not good enough to make it to state, we proved them wrong again. We took second at the Regional and won the Sectional by 84 points, qualify- ing for the State meet. While going down to the State meet in Peoria, we all had mixed emotions on our expected performance. But these feelings soon dimin- ished once we ran the race. We turned out with two All-Starters tEric Suender, 7th, and Chris Cook, 12thJ, an outstanding third place finish. I speak for all the six seniors in saying that we thank our coaches, lack Ary and Tom Flannagan, for the support, guidance, and help with our larger than life problems for the past four years. We also would like to thank the parents, friends, teachers, and the ever returning alumni for their support. We are glad to have achieved some of the greatest moments of our life on this team, and will remember them forever. We challenge the next generation of runners to live up to the dynasty of Conant Cross-Country by bringing back the hardware and showing that f'Varsity is an attitude. Good Luck!
