Building Blocks Where ever your talents lie, the Home Economics and industrial Education departments have classes for you. In Home Economics along with various levels of foods and clothing construction, there are courses offered in child development, family living, and inde- pendent living. Industrial Education offers class from autos to architecture. Surprisingly enough, both boys and girls alike are taking advantage of both types of courses. Within these areas, various skills are developed, understanding child birth to operating a nursery school, making cookies in your beginning food lab to preparing gourmet meal, and building furniture or engines in Industrial Education. Through these classes all bases are covered in helping to prepare students for their future. fClockwise-right! ln Home Economics, one can learn about basic child care. Lance Hampton finds that lndustrial Education is no easy class. Mr. Christiansen assists a student with a problem in Architecture. Metals can be an exciting, but dangerous class. These two guys take their time in sanding down their projects. Clothing offers students a chance to work on their own designs. PPS Offers Diversity The Guidance Office at each school provides indi- vidual and group counseling for social, personal, acadenuc and career planning.VVhen students enter high school, a counselor is assigned to help them in these areas of planning. The counselor schedules at least two conferences per year with each student. However, most students see their counselor more often. Addnmnalschoolserwcesindude: Psychologist who conducts psychological evaluations and interprets resuhs for students, parents and staff. The psychologist also provides counseling and aids in locating outside referral agencies. Social Worker who provides family counseling and serves as a liaison between the school and communi- ty agencms. Speech and Language Therapst who evmuates and corrects special communication problems.
