The boarding team deployed a twelve member unit of which four members came from an embarked U.S. Coast Guard Detachment. The team consisted of two officers and ten enlisted personnel from over ten source ratings. Working as one, they devel- oped the highest level of professional camaraderie and became known as The Twelve Amigos . fBy ETCCSWJ Longj A. 8 ' L Q o iff , ,A,,1-. It is located on a small island off the coast of Corfu. While there, they began to refurbish a two room building, made preparations for a man-made pond for swans, and cleared a lot of debris. Some of our en- gineers worked diligently to get an old truck on the island back in operation. The COUNT also delivered numerous pallets with food and other miscellaneous items, such as books, for the summer camp. Not all was work, as the ships' picnic was the perfect break between work days. The work accomplished was appreciated by the locals and fond memories will last a lifetime for the Helping Hands from the COUNT. ill Work, Work, Work . . . We don't understand, what did we do? The opportunity for the COUNT wardroom came in Naples, Italy fthe second time we stopped therej. Commodore Van Saun, Destroyer Squadron TWO FOUR, was the guest of honor. A Dining-In always begins as a most formal and tedious affair, however, as the evening wears on, the formality gives way to some good-natured fun. After dinner, the members of the mess are sentenced by Mr. Vice for their breaches of etiquette. There can be some unusual sentences, but most often, punishment takes the form of a dose of Navy GROG, which is a fine cocktail fhaving the appearancel of foul harbor water Cremember, we were in Naplesl. its f 'ml nw.,-1 -.nr I tg 5 Q mm 5593 X X .1--f .a-Qi-fy pi .wx s,...,,.f4.f,.ff ,W x-1 K N 2343?
