I, Gail Versluis, leave to Arta Mae Lenartz and Carole Lapp my ability to keep my hair long. 35 We, Lary Rector, Larry Tiejema, and Pat Fletcher, leave our mathe- matical brains to Tom Gracey and Bill Koert 36 We Dave Fuhrmann and Jim Kitler leave the advantage of our size to Roger Lilly and hope he has as much luck with his as we did 37 I Clyde Peacock leave my government book to Ray Bacon Any similarity between this and a legal document is improbable Signed Sally Seller Judy Ranck Tom Typer CLASS HISTORY The history of our Senior Class has differed from that of preceding classes in that the athletic prominence gained by several individuals in the class far outdlstances the slow start we made in class activities Through the first years of High the treasury contained slightly more than S300 However we have developed into an average Senior Class of 15 girls and 31 fellows During our awkward awesome Freshman year our class advisors were Miss Madelyn Holmes and Mrs Geraldine Carpenter Class officers elected were Danny Steakley President who left school during second semester and was replaced by Bucky Cordes Garry Hachmuth Vice President Pat Pritchard Secretary Jim McKellar Treasurer and Rosemary Bekins Stu dent Council Representative Our class had 95 members During this year our class activities lagged far behind with an occasional social affair and a few candy sales Class dues were S1 00 Next came our Sophomore year featured by a sale of telephone jotters This sale netted over S200 profit with Bill Carpenter as its high salesman collecting a wristwatch from the company for his feat Officers elected were Gary Hachmuth President Ken Gelderbloom Vice President Ruth Oele Secretary Rodney Denhart Treasurer and Cynthia Gibson Student Council Representative Our class was confederated this year with the first half of the alphabet having check up with Mr James DeWitt and the latter half with Mr Donald Hondorp This hindered the conducting of class business The class dues to add to the misery were S2 50 per semester a sum which proved very unpopular Now comes our Junior year when we have the two class advisors that are to see us through high school Mrs Marguerite Champlin and Mr Fred VanderLaan New responsibilities and activities such as the two Junior Plays the Prom the Junior Senior Banquet and the ordering of class rings were taken up Class officers elected were Ken Gelderbloom President Gary Hachmuth Vice President Ruth Oele Secretary Lynwood Larson Treasurer Larry Tiejema Treasurer second semester when Lynwood changed schools and Rosemary Bekins Student Council Representative During our magazine sale in October we netted about S300 profit In April two one act plays The Mystery of the Silver Backed Hairbrush and Forever Judy proved very popular with a large audience in attendance The Junior Prom held in November with a Starlight Fantasy theme proved both enjoyable and profitable We liked the music of Robert E Sullivan s Band so immensely that we hired him again for our Junior Senior Banquet in May Bucky Cordes Chairman of Decorations outdld himself in our theme Stairway to the Stars Our Senior class with 51 class members has been very busy with the usual magazine sale in October other sales of Christmas cards candy add ress labels and monogrammed stationery At the Homecoraing game in October Rodney Denhart and Pat Curtis were crowned King and Queen respectively In December the Senior Play The Magic Touch a three act comedy was a fine performance The Hilite Staff and committees worked very efficiently all first semester to publish this yearbook for your enjoyment Our 4 day cruise our senior trip aboard the S S South American in May was a high light of our Senior year Our biggest project the Senior Carnival required the untiring efforts of all class members Suddenly realizing we are almost ready to leave these school portals with mixed emotions we are looking forward also to our Baccalaureate and Commencement 1n June We shall leave fond memories behind and shall set forth with high hopes for the future Larry Tiejema O Historian I 11: n . , , 1 ' 1 1 . - n - 11 ' ' 1 ' I 1 1 - 1 1 l I - I 1 1 1 ' 1 1 - I , . 1 1 . .
