TENNI The tennis team will be hit hard by graduation when the squad reports to our new coach, Mr. Steward, for their first work out this spring. Letter winners back from last year's team are LaRue Roth, Bill Cordes, and Steve Rob- inson. Minor awards were issued to Gary Hachmuth and Dave Wier. These five boys will form the nucleus for this year's team. Other prospects who bear watching are Arnold Van Horn and Linwood Larson. Lost from last year's squad are Bill Schansema Q g -N g Wendell Carlson, Roger T i L F Chandler, and Ed. Obetts. BA ERALL will have seven regular: back from last year's squad. They are Duane Millering, Jim LaPrise Bill Cordes, Larry Tiejema, Dick Howlett, Rodney Denhart, and Larry Humphrey. The only regulars lost by graduation are Dick Brailey and Jim Wildey. TRACK Prospects for the year of 56 look good, replied Coach Hondorp as he gazed at the large turn out of boys circling the cinder track. We have the state half-mile champ I Ron Post and his 'side- kick Bucky Cordes. In the timber topping depart ment we have Wally Wier and Rodney Denhart. Bud Milligan will toss the weighted soft ball while Conference champ, Ken Selderbloom will soar to heights unknown in the high jump. We have a group of good looking freshmen this year to fill in the would-be gaps in our line-up so we are looking forward to a very succussful season. KNEELING: D. In the last few years the Comstock Park golf team has been one of the top class C golf squads in the state. Since they won the State Champion- ship in 1952, they have ' finished no lower than third in the State Tourna- ment. They are a member of the West State Golf League. Comstock Park won the championship in the first year of the new loop last spring Return- ing letter winners this year are Dick Geiger, Jack Hoag, Jim McCull- ough, and Bob Curtiss Ed Obetts and Nyle Spaulding are the members lost by graduation. Comstock Park will field another strong team this spring. Mr. Buth, who has coached the golf teams since the gained ' prominence backin l95Z, again will guide the club this year. rg ...il
